Our Vision
Every city has them. Spaces. Sometimes it’s a building or a warehouse. Other times it’s a street or an entire neighborhood. And everyday, people drive by them, look out their window and say, “You know what? Somebody ought to do something with that. It could be beautiful. There’s so much potential for apartments or lofts or offices or anything. It’s too bad it’s just sitting there, wasting away. Somebody really ought to do something about that.”
The buildings and neighborhoods are yours. It doesn’t matter whose name is on the deed or what’s been zoned for what. They were built and created for people like you to live in, work in, learn from, and discover. We don’t think it was anyone’s intention to plan something and never have it happen. Or to build something only to have it sit vacant deteriorating for decades.
Before the retail district. Before the empty-nesters. Before the law firms. Before the jazz bars. Before the young professionals. Before the advertising agencies. Before the art galleries. Before the coffee houses. Before the artists. Before the starving artists. Before all of that is Cityspace.
Our History
Since our first historic restoration project at the Jeffrey Mining Company’s world headquarters, our work has been inspired by the history of this great family business that at one time was the world’s largest manufacturer of mining equipment.
The Jeffrey was full of creative minds, innovators, and leaders – the kind of people we aspire to be and that we hope live in Columbus to further the development of our city. With Battery B, the newest addition to the Jeffrey complex, we wanted to give a nod once again to the rich history of The Jeffrey Mining Company. During World War I, two men, who happened to b the sons of the company’s founder Joseph A. Jeffrey, felt it their duty to join America’s cause.
In 1917, they organized and assembled an artillery battalion comprised of local workers known as Battery B of the 37th division and went to serve their country. What better place to live, learn and discover than on the same soil where so many successful and diligent people thrived for decades.
